Workspace connections

An admin, once, for everyone

Slack

Messages people directly, posts updates to a channel, and can open a channel per engagement.

Reads
Your Slack workspace name, and a person’s Slack ID looked up by their email.
Sends
The update’s text with a link to the engagement, and the names, topics and invitees of channels it creates.

Never · Reads your channels or messages.

Set it up · Settings → Integrations & APIs → Connections
  1. Create a Slack app at api.slack.com/apps with these bot scopes. chat:write users:read.email channels:manage
  2. Install it to your Slack workspace and copy the Bot User OAuth Token. xoxb-…
  3. In Murmurly, choose Add a Slack workspace, give it a name and paste the token.
  4. Choose which updates go to Slack. For direct messages, each member links their Slack in Profile → Connections.

Salesforce

Links organizations to Accounts and engagements to Opportunities, and imports Contacts and Accounts when you ask.

Reads
Accounts, Contacts and Opportunities.
Sends
Only what you type to search.

Never · Changes anything in Salesforce.

Set it up · Settings → Integrations & APIs → Connections
  1. A Salesforce admin chooses Connect Salesforce and signs in.
  2. Imports that might match an existing record wait on the same page as possible matches, for you to confirm.
02

Members connect their own

Each member, for their own account

Google Calendar

Shows when members are busy, so the assign picker knows who is free.

Reads
Busy times from the calendars each member picks.
Sends
Nothing.

Never · Shows colleagues a time, title, attendee or place. They see a count of clashes only.

Set it up · Profile → Connections
  1. An admin switches on Allow members to connect, under Connections → Google Calendar.
  2. Each member opens Profile → Connections and signs in with Google.
  3. Pick which calendars count. Optionally show your own events to yourself.

Built in

Always on

Email

Invitations and engagement updates go out by email from the start. No setup needed.

Reads
Delivery events, so bounces and complaints are tracked.
Sends
Invitations and updates, from invites@ or updates@ your domain once it is verified.

Never · Switches to your domain before it is Verified, so adding one can never break sending.

Set it up · Settings → Communications
  1. Nothing to switch on. It already works, from a Murmurly address.
  2. To send from your own domain, add it under Settings → Communications → Custom Domain. acme.com
  3. Add the records shown at your DNS provider: 3 DKIM CNAMEs, an MX and an SPF TXT on mail.<your domain>.
  4. Mail switches to your domain once its status reads Verified.

Who can do this

Admins set up workspace connections; organizers can look. Any member can connect or disconnect their own account.
